What can Noya answer, and what it can not?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Understanding what Noya can and cannot do well saves you time and helps you ask better questions. Noya is a financial data assistant, not a general-purpose AI. It is specifically built around your business numbers and will give you its most accurate, most useful answers when your questions are grounded in that data.

What Ask Noya can answer well

What Ask Noya cannot answer

What you ask

Why Noya cannot answer it

What is the tax I owe this year?

Noya is not a tax advisor and does not have access to tax lodgements, deductions, or jurisdiction-specific tax rules.

How does my business compare to competitors?

Noya has no access to external data or other businesses. Industry benchmarking is coming in a future release.

Can you look up the current interest rate on business loans?

Noya cannot access the internet or live external data of any kind.

What is the best accounting software for my industry?

Noya is not a general business advisor and cannot recommend products or services outside Finoya.

Can you calculate my GST or VAT obligations?

Tax calculation requires jurisdiction-specific rules and access to tax codes. Noya does not handle tax compliance.

Can you send a payment reminder to my customer?

Noya is read-only. It cannot take actions in your accounting software, send emails, or trigger external processes.

What happened to a specific transaction from three years ago?

Noya works from calculated summaries. Individual transaction lookups require Ask Noya Premium, which is available to accountants.

Can you update my invoice terms?

Noya cannot write data back to your accounting software. It reads only.

Tip

If Noya gives you a response that feels generic or unhelpful, it is usually because the question is either outside its data scope or too broad for it to give a specific answer.

Try making the question more specific and grounded in a metric or time period. Instead of 'how is my business doing?' try 'why did my net profit margin change this month compared to last month?' The second version gives Noya a data point to anchor its answer.

When Noya gets something wrong

Noya is in beta. It will occasionally give an answer that is imprecise, misinterprets the question, or draws a conclusion that does not quite fit your situation. When this happens:

• Try rephrasing the question with more specific details

• Check whether the data it references matches what you see on the relevant dashboard screen

• If the answer seems genuinely inaccurate rather than just imprecise, use the feedback option or contact support

The most common source of inaccurate answers is a sync that has not run recently. If your accounting software has had significant activity since the last weekly sync, Noya is working from data that does not yet reflect those changes. The Sync On date in your top bar tells you when data was last refreshed.
