Finoya syncs with your accounting software weekly. If you are checking your dashboard and the data looks unchanged, one of two things is true: either the weekly sync has not run yet, or your accounting software has not had any new or updated data since the last sync.
Both situations are normal and neither indicates a problem with Finoya itself. The starting point is always to check the sync date shown in the top bar of your dashboard.
Step 1: Check the sync date
Look at the top bar of your Finoya dashboard. You will see two pieces of information:
• Sync On [date]: The date your data was last successfully pulled from your accounting software.
• Next Sync: [date]: The date the next automatic sync is scheduled to run.
If the Sync On date is less than seven days ago and the Next Sync date has not passed yet, the sync is on schedule. The dashboard will not change until the next sync runs. This is expected behaviour, not a bug.
If the Next Sync date has already passed and the Sync On date has not updated, there may be a sync issue. See the troubleshooting steps at the end of this article.
Step 2: Check whether your accounting software actually has new data
Finoya can only show changes that exist in your accounting software. If you have not entered any new invoices, bills, or transactions in your accounting platform since the last sync, Finoya will show the same data because nothing has changed at the source.
Common reasons your accounting software may not reflect recent activity:
• Invoices have been completed but not yet entered into the accounting software
• Bills have been received and paid directly without being recorded as payables first
• Bank transactions have not been imported or reconciled in the accounting platform
• Sales were made but income was not recorded in the accounting software
Open your accounting software and check whether recent activity is actually there. If it is not, the data needs to be entered at the source before Finoya can pick it up. Finoya reads what is in your accounting software. It cannot see activity that has not been recorded there.
Important Finoya reflects the state of your accounting software, not the state of your bank account or the state of deals you have in progress.
If you pay a bill directly from your bank without entering it in your accounting software, your bank balance drops but Finoya does not see the payment until it is reconciled in your accounting platform.
Keeping your accounting software current is the foundation of an accurate Finoya dashboard. |
Step 3: Confirm your accounting software connection is still active
A broken accounting software connection will cause syncs to fail silently in some cases. If the Sync On date has not changed across multiple weeks, the connection may have broken.
Common causes of a broken connection:
• Your accounting software password was changed after the connection was set up
• Your accounting platform revoked the connection due to inactivity or a platform update
• Your accounting software subscription lapsed or changed plans, which can affect API access

Why does Finoya not sync more frequently?
Weekly sync is the current standard cadence for Finoya. This balances data freshness with the cost of API calls to accounting platforms. Frequent syncing at scale across thousands of connected accounts has a real cost that affects the sustainability of the $49 per month pricing.
Real-time or daily sync is on the product roadmap. When it becomes available, this article will be updated and users will be notified.
