Adding a new client and sharing the invite code

How the client onboarding flow works

Bringing a client onto Finoya is a two-step process. You add them to your dashboard and generate an invite code. Your client then uses that code to create their own Finoya account and connect their accounting software. Once they complete the connection, their data begins appearing in your dashboard automatically.

The invite code is the link between your accountant account and your client's business account. Without it, a client who signs up independently is not connected to your dashboard and you cannot see their data.

Note

Every client needs their own invite code. You cannot use the same code for multiple clients. Each code is unique and can only be activated once.

Step 1: Add a new client from your dashboard

From your multi-client dashboard at app.finoya.ai/multi-clients, click the Add New Client button in the top right corner of the screen.

You will be asked to enter the client's business name. Enter the name as you want it to appear in your dashboard. This does not need to be a legal name and it can be changed later. Click Save or Confirm. Then follow the steps to link their accounting platform to Finoya. It will take anywhere between 10 mins to 1 hour to sync the account – in the meantime the screen will be blank. Once the sync is complete you will be able to see the details of the account and then open the specific account to drill down further. Follow the same steps to add more clients.

Step 2: Reveal and copy the invite code

In the far right column of the new client's row, you will see an Invite Code field with a Reveal button. Click Reveal to display the unique code assigned to that client.

Copy the code. You will send this to your client so they can use it during their Finoya sign-up process.

Note

The invite code does not expire. However, once a client uses it to complete their sign-up and connection, it cannot be reused. If a client makes an error during sign-up and needs to start again before completing the accounting connection, contact support.

Step 3: Send the invite code to your client

There is no automatic email sent to clients from Finoya when you create a code. You send the code to your client directly through your own communication channel, whether that is email, your client portal, or a message.

When you send the code, include the following information so your client knows exactly what to do:

To connect your account, please follow these steps:

1. Go to app.finoya.ai

2. Click 'Sign Up for Free' and select 'Invited by Accountant'

3. Enter this invite code when prompted: [PASTE CODE HERE]

4. Create your account with Google or your email address

5. Login and you see will be able to see all your data.

What if a client already has a Finoya account?

If a client signed up for Finoya independently before you brought them onto your accountant dashboard, they have a standalone small business account that is not connected to you. To link an existing standalone account to your dashboard, contact support. We can reassociate the account so it appears in your client list.

This situation comes up occasionally when a business owner tries Finoya on their own and then their accountant joins later. Support can handle the reassociation without the client needing to reconnect their accounting software.
